Windows - I don't like Windows graphical user interface, It is very easy to use, But the most reason i like it is because i love games, Most of the games i like don't play on mac, And i'm not sure on Linux, Windows is a classic, Overall i like it but there is many things that could be added to make it improved, Even if its the littlest things. Window's Is my old buddy, It's still improving. The new vista rocks i have never been on it proper but to be honest the little goes i have when im at my friends on ultimate, It's well worth getting, I hear tho there is about 90 process's for Home editiong, But if your computer can handle it you've got no problem, In the future i hope that it would lower this and stop being a CPU hog. If you have home edition it is well worth upgrading to Ultimate edition, that is the best
Mac - I love the grapical user interface on Mac, I wouldn't say its the easiest to user especially if you have worked with windows all of your life. The down fall on it is that it doesn't play most games, Is there away to get around that, If there is message me please, I will be very gratefull. I may be getting a mac But, I'm not sure if the excitment of getting a mac would last? The new mac edition looks absolutly amazing, ILife08 And IWorks08 really makes it even better, Mac OS X v10.4.10 Tiger (which includes Spotlight, Dashboard, Mail, iChat AV, Safari, Address Book, QuickTime, iCal, DVD Player, Xcode Developer Tools). Tiger Dual Core, Omg Fast I love games, And well if i got a mac i would have to use my other computer to play my games on, And that would really do my head in.
Linux - Well Linux, It's free, And very customizable and there is many different versions, I have never had expierence with linux, I have seen my friends on it, But to be honest the graphical user interface is soo not to my likeing, I thinkits bulgy, and is cramped together and just isnt nice, Well that's my opion, I don't know if games work with this, Since i never been on it, It's confusing there is not much software for it, But what do you expect for a Free OS.
Well i got to choose Windows my old buddy, I have used it all my life. Yes i know i have to get out there, I will but not for a couple of years. Untill all rest can play my favorite games. If i get anything it would have to be the new mac though. It looks proper awusome. And the speed of the new IMac, Unbilevable.
Can you all post your reviews and what you think of my post, And which is the best
Windows is good for gaming and working on stuff as it has good Programming GUI's made for it that are not made for other platforms (not the stuff that comes pre-installed) and the new Vista has great security, however I still believe that Linux and Mac can be more secure then it.
Mac: Great platform, especially since the new OSX, very secure plus has some fun games, I don't personally own one but I have played around on a few freinds systems. Also I love the Interface, it's much more attracting then windows.
*Nix: This is by far my favorite, it's highly customizable, very secure, plus if you have it on your workstation then it can double as a easy to set up, server!
Overall here are my ratings (1-10):
Dos: 1 <-- Just added for kicks
Windows XP: 6
Windows Vista: 8
Mac: 9
*nix: 9.8
Windows - I am stuck with using windows simply because all the programs i use are best suited for windows! So it is extreamly hard for me to convert to another OS... and i can not be doing with those damn emulators to get around it!
Ubuntu - Love the OS! It's nice looking, easy to use, etc. It's completely free, even free shipping of the OS on CD for those of you interested!!! I got a load of the CD's. You just enter your address and how many you want and wait a few weeks and they turn up! Or you can download an .iso of it. Also it gets better... you can run a LIVE CD of it. meaning it is installed ONLY to your computers RAM and does not touch your HDD. So then when you finished playing with it, restart your computer and it's as if you had never ran the OS in the first place... up pop's windows or w/e OS you had on before.
LLGP (Live Linux Games Project) - Another LIVE CD. Pop it in your CD drive, boot from the disk, the OS loads after a minute... and play any of the hundreds of games in the start menu! Restart your comp and LLGP is gone! Doesnt fill your HDD with temp files etc because live CD's are completly run from your computers RAM!
With the new Mac OS X upgrade you can play windows games on your mac using the Boot Camp Feature. I plan on getting it tomorrow (Yay for me). Its pretty cheap too (E125).
I like XP but I've had a bad expierence with Vista which has scared me off, plus alot of programs don't work on vista.
As for Linux, I have Ubuntu installed on my old Dell but due to a PHP project I've been working on for the past couple of months (<plug>Check out my Blog on NG for more info</plug>) I haven't had time to learn the kernel.
