So.. I have lately been switching through languages. And i really don't know which im better at. Don't know which one is easiest for me. (I'm 13). So...
I think i am sorry to say. But i might actually give up.
Does anyone know a nice easy language for me to learn at my age. Something that will be able to make something productive.
Visual Basic. As i know Visual Basic is a good nice easy language. Later on in life it will come to an end. And wont be to use for much longer.
I just get so pissed trying to think of a language to learn. Something i will be good at. Something that is nice and flipping easy.
Really. What should i start off with. And then progress too. You guys are really the only people that can help me. So what would you guys say? Also i want a programming language that compiles. I don't want a language like Perl.
I know you have some ideas. Give me them.
Something nice.
Something productive later on.
Something EASY!
Its a nice simple language however it might cause problems when 'upgrading' to other languages as the syntax is 'unconventional' (it doesn't have braces and the like). I like it though.
If your interested in web definetly learn (x)HTML and CSS. Its the easiest language going, plus if you get good enough you can start on Javascript which will help you with programming.
Yes. I actually want to do a bit of Web Development.
But to be honest with you. I don't know what i want to do.
Thats why i say i give up. Because i don't know what i want to do.
I'm not sure to do.
Man. Just pisses me off so much.
Might do some Visual Basic actually. See how i like it.
See what i can do.
ok, i can advice you something.
i didn't do that but my friend said that he first read the book on Object Oriented Programming and after that he picked a simple language, i think i could have started that way, i still don't know all the possibilities of OOP but after you do that you can just go to the best - C++, or infact any oop. but i think that most useful are C/C++, HAskel, Delphi, ASM, C#, and Java(it is portable and not very hard to use, i already make articles on that language on CP, check it out)
Ok... well i don't want you to just give up! No body ever gets anywhere by giving up!
So... look at it like this... if you want to do programming for fun... learn Visual Basic... you get instant results!!! Can't go wrong at that. If it wasn't for VB teaching me the basics and showing me what is possibly i wouldn't be where i am today in regards to programming!
All other languages stay away from until you start wanting more than what VB can offer! Most other languages are:
1. Harder to learn than VB
2. Are not RAD IDEs
3. Complicate things with forcing OOP
Visual Basic in that respect is brilliant. In fact when i was younger and asked a professional software engineer i got told many people start off with Visual Basic, then when they want to achieve more they stray off to other languages after finding out exactly what they want to do via VB. Couldn't have been more right!
Visual Basic is a good language to start with, seriously. It can do almost anything, the only problem is the performance, but unless you do big projects, I doubt it will affect you. If you want to try something else than VB I suggest you .Net (C# is a good choice).
Every language in .Net will be compiled the same way therefore, have the same performance and functions. What changes is the syntax, mostly. .Net is very simple and if you use C#, it will teach you a syntax similar to C++ and Java, which will help you to learn those languages.
.Net also has a lot of free tutorials to teach you how to use it from scratch. If you don't want to use Visual Studio (because it is not free), there are free and open source C# IDE.
First start of with some HTML/Css after that learn some php/mysql (a must have for webdeveloper) After you managed that go to some perl/python. Just take the time to learn and try to make some simple applications. If you have problems just ask on the forums and we will try to help you
You can compile Python and Perl with 3rd party tools
But they are NOT good choices for a newbie... pythons mainly console based which is boring, and perl is console based and again boring as well as having a bitch of a syntax.
So i would stick with RAD for beginners to keep them interested while learning the basics.
