Me,i use windows vista..xD
But soon i will download ubuntu..cause i want to try it.

People say it's good and easy..and good for hacking stuff..but i doubt that i'll stick with it..i prefere windows since most programs work beteter with it.

Also...is programiing for ubuntu a lot different? cause i was interested in learning linux programing..but if it's a lot different then i'd rather not....I might mix things up :s

What about you?

I like

Window XP.
For now ;).

I got Ubuntu. Fucked everything up with the partition though. I overwrote all of my XP lol.
Any way. I would suggest you getting Fedora. I find it's alot better if you are going for a linux os.

So.

For me.
Its

WINDOWS XP!

Lol... i remember screwing up my partitions with redhat!   .

Oh... why not install an OS using VirtualBox... that way you can not screw anything up! and you get to try out the OS etc.

I love ubuntu and i love how the developers are distributing it etc. Very nice OS and if i were to switch OS's that is what i would switch to.

But with that said i think i prefer windows... simply because i no longer have to learn anything about it because i know where things are and have come accustomed to the shortcuts etc.

Also i like a lot of the software on windows... mainly software done by anyone BUT microsoft.

Kind regards,
Scott

I do like XP but I prefer Leopard. There are features that I love (such as clicking the middle mouse button to view all open windows) and couldn't do without.

I have Ubuntu installed on my old Dell but haven't had much time to play with it although I really want to.

Mine would definitely be FreeBSD. _REAL_ UNIX, _REAL_ freedom, excellent documentation and design.

You can bring up all windows in Windows XP, you just have to have the right software. My wireless mouse came with something that had a button which did just this. Also, I love how Vista now has the feature in the bottom left (next to the start button).

For me, it depends. If I have a slow comp, like the one at my mom's (512mb ddr), then I'd prefer XP. On the other hand, if my comp can handle it (such as my 4gb ddr2 at dad's house), then I prefer Windows Vista. I prefer Windows overall because it's hard to screw things up, almost all software works with it, and the new Vista looks really cool....

actually homebasic doesn't include 3d animations of windows and i think that it won't have a big problem on 512 mb ram pc, only it will definitely have problems running other software

Well, who would buy vista home basic? That's just a waste, it's not nearly as good :P

BTW, guys, if you get a new comp with Vista Home Premium, if it only has 1gb, buy at least 1 more gb. It's perfect at 2gb. At 4gb though (which I'm at now), it's like.....perfect. You can buy 2gb for like $50, so...ya.

But yea, 512mb will be very slow with vista, either version, esp with programs. It's already slow enough with XP :)

yeap, i like the prices in Long Island, New York they are way cheaper, here (in canada) you pay the same price, or a bit less for 512mb, and 2 gb will brobably be close to 200, so that sucks.
