I am new to Flash. I always wanted to be part of the newgrounds, crazymonkeygames & armorgames gaming community, so I took charge and bought the latest Adobe Flash software and I also bought a cartoonsmart ActionScript 3.0 Basics tutorial. I also plan on buying ActionScript 3.0 Game Programming University book in two weeks. Also, I have one of my friends' that is new to the game industry and wants to go to college for game design. So I gave him all the resources I know of for game design and he's going to start a GDD and storyline with dialogue for a platformer that I'll be coding up using everything I learn from the video tutorials and books I watch and read. I am sure I'll be successful with it since I am very serious about it and doing a lot to learn it.
Also, once I learn AS3 I'll be contributing to the community with source codes of small games that I create (not ones I get sponsored by armorgames or crazymonkeygames.) along with tutorials.
Hope to see this community grow to be pretty damn big!
Wow, you bought Adobe Flash? That's the first time I've heard someone doing that! Congratulations and I hope you become very good at it. I tried doing flash stuff (games and what not) back when I was in highschool (and it was still owned by Macromedia) and it was quite fun but I never really latched onto it since ActionScript isn't formal and like other languages out there. But I hope the best for your aspirations.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions here as I think a few people do no AS3 and could probably help you out. Also, don't forget to show your work! We love to see it.
