Hello,
I need a new laptop and besides it's primary purpose, for work, I want it to be able to fully support the features of ettercap. Now I have been thinking about getting a Mac Book Pro or an Air, but I remembered a while back reading that ettercap works best with Linux. I do not know if that is entirely true but since then, I have started to consider buying a laptop that supports Ubuntu. After a while of research, I noticed that Ubuntu was not listed on the ettercap website while every supported version of Linux was. I am not sure if Ubuntu is included under "Linux" but I will assume it is not. On the official ettercap website, I had also noticed that Mac Os X was listed on the supported platforms list. Seeing it there, I am back to considering a Mac Book Pro. I have not heard or read any reviews on ettercap running on the latest Mac Book Pro operating system or model, so I did not want to rush off and buy one just to find out that it does not work. Now, here I am on this forum because I need your suggestions or opinions regarding my problem. What laptop model, with which operating system should I get?

Thanks in advance!

Never heard of ettercap before... all the pro's seem to use: http://www.ethereal.com/

Just checked Ubuntu on my laptop... ettercap does work on it, but it only got 3 out of 5 stars by the Ubuntu community.

Though saying that, i couldn't find ethereal on the ubuntu software repository    but i'm sure you can find an ubuntu packaged version of it somewhere on the net or just download the source and compile your own for ubuntu (using make).

Kind regards,
Scott

Ethereal is old and deprecated. Wireshark is the NG of Ethereal (they forked because of trademark issues).

As for Ubuntu laptops, how about System76?
