Today, as some of you know, i've been designing out the whole of coder profile. After trying to enhance the source codes application i noticed it started to get very much like the project management application. Then i thought... they are both used to manage source codes so why use two different applications?
What i have decided to do is not bother with the separate project management application and instead add it's functionality to the source codes application. When posting a source code you will be able to select a "type" such as snippet or project and that will show you a selection of features you can enabled / disable (since snippets won't need a support desk or forum, but projects may want it). You will be able to "upgrade" types, but not downgrade. So something may start off as a snippet of code, and eventually grow in to a full project. This means that all the history collected about the code right from it's snippet type will be recorded.
Version control will also be built in. Everything that is added to a source code is stamped with the current version of the source code. When you upload a new source code, you MUST increase the version. All old source code versions are saved to a repository (up to X revisions).
Anyway, that's all i'm telling you feature wise at this stage. After all, it's still in it's planning stage. The whole thing is coming along ok on paper and i'm gradually working my way through a ream of paper!
There's also going to be some cool surprises for XMas such as a "rich" site footer.
