Hey, I just thought of touching on the election of now President-elect, Barack Obama. In Canada the whole USA elections seemed to be more important then our own, , anyway wanted to get your input on the topic. , Dominik.
I can't say much as we didn't hear much about their political aims here in Germany, but he can't be worse than Bush ;) As far as I have heard, he has invited some qualified republicans into his cabinet. I respect him for that, since it proves a spirit that politics have been missing since I can remember (in Germany, too) and an understanding of "democracy" as I do understand that word.
I was amazed at how many people were suddenly so happy that Obama won when only weeks ago they had no idea who he was. For instance in my school only 1 of my friends knew policies and details but of course he is American and his parents were voting, anyone else just used to walk away whenever we got talking, the morning we heard Obama won it was the talk of the school.
I personally think McCain was a fine candidate and while I wouldn't have voted for him I would have been happy with him in the White House, mainly because I can't help but compare any of the candidates to Bush. God, that guy is a moron
But Palin as Vice would've been hell, she doesn't even know what the job consits of
The economy fault wasn't on Bush, but he did screw up a lot of other things. If you did more research, there's a lot more to it than "Bush did it". He did lie to us to get in the war though, then continue the war much after he should have, and for that, I think Bush was a terrible president. I hope Obama doesn't screw up our country even more than it already is lol, but he seems good.
