5 Tips for The GIMP 2
Design & Creativity
WELCOME TO THIS ARTICLE, WHERE I FEATURE 5 TIPS FOR THE GIMP 2. MANY OF THESE TIPS MIGHT SEEM A BIT BASIC FOR MOST PEOPLE, BUT THEY ARE MEANT TO BE SIMPLE FEATURES IN THE PROGRAM, THAT YOU MAYBE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT EARLIER.

So, let's begin!

1. STROKING YOUR SELECTION:
To stroke any kind of selection, make sure you have selected something (duh!), then go to Edit>Stroke Selection. You do then have to type in some properties and you are done, basically!

2. DRAWING STRAIGHT LINES: If you want to draw a straight line hold down the shift key while drawing as always before. If you want constraint lines, hold down both the shift key and the CTRL key.
3. CREATING A SPIRAL SHAPED GRADIENT: To create a spiral gradient (or any other kind of special gradient) check the properties for the gradient tool and find a combo box with the title "Shape". There you can choose "Spiral (Cw)" or "Spiral (Ccw)" or any other gradient shape for that matter.

4. MAKE YOUR WORK LOOK LIKE A STYLISH PAINTING: You can use a simple filter to quickly create anything you have created or opened in The GIMP look like a stylish painting. You can find the filter under Filters>Artistic>GIMPPressionist. There's several settings you can do to this filter, or you can just use a preset.

5. SELECT A PERFECT RECTANGLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE IMAGE: First, you must press CTRL+A to select all. Then go to the menu called selection and click "Shrink...". Then select how many pixels you want to shirnk the image with and ta-da, you got a rectangle in the exact middle of your image! I recommend you to check out everything in the Selection menu anyway, there's a lot of useful features there!

That was all, I were supposed to write 10 tipses, but couldn't bother so it ended up as 5... Will probably create another article someday.

On my own personal opinion.
I hate, or should i really say dislike GIMP.

Yes it may be free, and slightly the same as other things.

But wait.. Photoshop and Illustrator are soo much better!
Yes they cost, but they are damn worth it!

I have both and love using them!
