Quick Questions

What got you interested in coding?
Computers in general. I didn't understand the whole thing about them when I was a kid. I just have always known I wanted to program. I think we can all blame Word for that. Nowadays I want to implement systems that will help disabled children to improve their lives. Let's see how that goes.

What compilers do you like to use?
GCC. I actually hate Microsoft's C++ compiler.

What is your least favorite language and why?
This is a complex question. JavaScript, and it's just a scripting language. It's a pain to even make the simplest functions work properly. And PHP. It's inconsistent it's annoying to use it. It may be my strongest language right now, but I don't like to work with it anymore. Back in the day, I was obsessed with it but God, maybe I should learn ASP.

What is your favorite IDE?
Ironically, Visual Studio 2010. But I love XCode as well. PHPDesigner for my PHP work.

Do you write code as a hobby, or because you have to for work?
Right now I do it as a hobby, but I hope I can work researching more in the computer field and therefore use it for my work.

How did you learn how to write code?
When I was 14 (2006), I used to visit this website called "Neoseeker". It offered "Neohomes" (a personal space in your profile where you could have a little page in HTML). I really wanted a Neohome so I started reading HTML tutorials on the internet. That eventually made me learn CSS, JavaScript, PHP, C++, and so on...

What is your favorite coding language and why?
It's between C++ and Objective-C. I like C++ because of it's powerful capabilities and because it's been around for a pretty long time. Not to mention it's a complex language once you deep hard on it, and you can do pretty much anything for anything with it. I like the syntax of Objective-C and it's memory management system. I am not sure of what I can do with it other than programming for Apple devices, but I love it and hope to do more with it.

What do you least enjoy about coding?
Writing and reading bad code.

What do you enjoy most about coding?
Seeing my creations alive once I compile. Even my first "Hello World" left an "awe" expression in my face of satifcation.

How did you get interested in coding?
I have always liked computers. Ever since I was a kid, I have been playing and exploring them. Our first computer was a mediocre Windows 98 computer from 1999. Back in that day, I had a weird fascination for typing things in word. I think that's what got me into coding initially. Eventually, my passion for creation and for having total control over my technology pushed me to eventually teach myself how to program.

How long have you been coding for?
Since 2006. That's 5 years.

Just a little bit about yourself?
I am a Bolivian who lives under one principle: It's all about doing the right thing, doesn't matter what stones you find your way, or what you are not allowed to do. I was born to a family who gave me a wonderful childhood and I think every child deserves the same thing. I consider myself an anarchist (most likely you do NOT know what it means, please research the topic before attacking me, thank you), and therefore I only follow rules that make sense or that I impose myself. I am open minded, and I appreciate art, and consider programming to be an interesting form of art.

What are your favorite coding books?
Ironically (again) "Programming PHP" by Rasmus Lerdford and a few other guys. It's the first programming book I ever purchased and I remember the expectations I had of opening it and reading it, finally learning a "real", non-HTML language.

What do you use your coding languages for?
Web Development, random desktop applications, and as of lately, random iOS applications.

How many hours a week on average do you spend coding?
12 hours a week. College keeps me busy. :(
